TSMC 2024 Case Study

The Challenge

Designing a high-impact exhibit for TSMC at the Society of Women Engineers 2024 Conference required navigating both creative and operational complexities. With TSMC’s core team based overseas, coordination introduced challenges around time zones, communication cadence, and alignment on key decisions. Maintaining momentum while ensuring all stakeholders were aligned required careful scheduling and clear, structured communication throughout the project.

At the same time, the booth needed to meet strict brand standards. TSMC’s guidelines dictated specific rules around imagery, typography, and layout, limiting flexibility while still requiring a design that felt engaging and tailored to the event audience. Translating these global brand standards into a custom exhibit environment required balancing compliance with creativity, ensuring the final design aligned with corporate expectations while still appealing to college students exploring STEM opportunities.

Additionally, the objective of creating an open, island-style booth introduced spatial challenges. The design needed to remain fully accessible from all sides while still incorporating defined engagement areas, structural elements, and clear branding visibility. Achieving a premium, upscale presence without overcrowding the space required careful planning of both layout and visual hierarchy.

The core challenge was bringing together global collaboration, strict brand adherence, and experiential design into a cohesive booth that felt both on-brand and highly engaging for the target audience.

Our Strategy & Approach

To execute a high-impact exhibit for TSMC at the Society of Women Engineers 2024 Conference, the approach combined structured collaboration with disciplined design execution. Early in the process, we established a clear communication rhythm with TSMC’s overseas team, aligning on milestones, review cycles, and decision points. Meetings were scheduled to accommodate both teams, and feedback was consolidated into focused updates to keep the project moving efficiently despite time zone differences.

On the design side, we began by interpreting TSMC’s brand guidelines within the context of a physical environment. Rather than treating the guidelines as a limitation, we used them as a framework to build consistency across all surfaces. Image selection, typography, and layout were carefully adapted to fit the architectural elements of the booth while maintaining compliance with brand standards. This ensured the final space felt cohesive and on-brand without appearing rigid or overly corporate.

Internally, design and production teams worked in tandem to ensure feasibility and precision. Graphic layouts were developed alongside fabrication planning, allowing for accurate execution of branded elements across all surfaces. This integrated approach reduced revisions and ensured that what was approved in design translated cleanly into the final build.

The result was a booth that balanced global brand consistency, open accessibility, and targeted engagement, creating a space that was both visually aligned with TSMC and effective in connecting with its audience.
